Niki, The permit application that I got in the mail is very difficult. I have to fill out a whole page of all sorts of info of where I got my quail and names of owners, breeders, etc. Also I have to write down what all I have. It says that I have to have a permit for geese, ducks, turkeys, quail and llots of other animals.
THanks,
Cody!!
i just saw this now...
The reason they want to know where you got your original quail from is to make sure you have your bobwhites you alreaady own with a permit certificate. That's what i was telling you about when you wanted to buy them in the first place. The breeder you bought off of is selling them illegally that's why you're having issues with filling out the application because if they find out you'll be in doo doo just for that as will the breeder. I no longer have my trio of bobwhites here because i learned real quick that even though you dont need a permit just to own them you do need a certificate prooving you got htem from a certified/permited source. So they became a yummy grilled dinner. Bobwhites are a pain in the butt... no point raising them IMO unless you really really like the taste of them to waste the time on them....OR unless you're helping with restocking efforts with your game commission/DNR.
As for the geese and ducks and turkeys they are probably meaning nondomestic species. if they aren't then that's something you should have relaly looked into before hand.
You are not allowed to have migrating species and wild turkeys without a permit for such same as bobwhite quail so it doesnt suprise me. Unless they are domestic, like domestic mallards, domestic pilgrim geese, and bourbon red turkeys....(to name a few).
