i am not sure if this a rant or not....

Amen to that! The step daughter moved out of here and in with her mother the last time we put our foot down - that was about leaving the house in such a pig sty no one could find a dish to eat off of. And we have a dishwasher!!! Since she left, they have been keeping the house clean. The one day it wasn't I refused to cook and told them all they could have wsa Top Ramen.

So let's see if this new foot puttin down thing has any affect on the other issues with these boys.

We have been under some tight financial constraints all summer as well. Since gas has gone down it has helped a little, but we are still busting our humps. I started mowing yards when I was like 10. I was so small I had to push on the lower rung of the mower, but I got it done and went on to the next. I also babysat and did other yard work for the old ladies in the neighborhood. My parents had money when I was growing up but THANK GOD my mother didn't let us live like we did. IF I wanted a pair of $100 sneakers my mom made me work and earn my half, then she paid the other half. I didn't complain, I got up and worked for what I wanted and learned along the way that work is how you have things and money. We didn't have an allowance either, we had a home and full bellies. Now that I'm grown my mom tells me I work too hard and need to slow down, or let my husband do more. I stay at home so I feel it's my job to whatever needs doing since my husband brings in the money.

My child is not rude to me, he treats me well. He is intelligent, witty, handsome, friendly, caring, a sucker animals. He is the planets worst procrastinator.

OK, here's what you do. Get those kids volunteering. If jobs are that tight out your way that more folks are turning out for jobs than there are jobs, you've got to do something to set yourself apart from the clan.

I still vote for the homeless shelter or one of the Catholic organizations that no doubt are swamped with people needing assistance in these tight economic times. I know they are here in OC.

There's nothing like seeing a bunch of people who don't know where their next meal is coming from to make you realize that a cracked corn dog is not only perfectly edible, but would have been gratefully eaten by any one of those homeless folks, even if it was cracked, cold, and hard.

Not only will they learn a bit about the REAL WORLD, but they'll have something on their resume that probably most of those 1400 people don't. And, it won't hurt on a college application as well, should college plans be in their future.

Walking distance is great - no gas money involved!

OK, but one thing - YOU don't call them. THEY call and volunteer. Having them do it is part of the growing up process. Ya know?

The waste of food kills me

I take my 3 grand daughter to eat(all preteens) Papa rule order all you want, but you must eat all you order. They had in the past leave a plate full.

No wonder their mother ,my DIL will order food like she hasnt eat in days, then leave half of it.

My sons dont ,but both their wifes do, no wonder they spend so much on food.

People now throw so much away.

Anything left on a plate at all is brought home and fed to my pig. I paid for it. My animals will eat the bread ends and left over scraps before I let it go to the trash. My kids are completely embarressed when I ask for a go to plate for the table scraps. LOL

I got my pointer at the shelter on Zuni road in AV. We moved from Victorville to a little bitty town of 4000 in TX. The 19 year old needs to hit the pavement and just walk in to places. Sure it will take a while but with perseverance a job will be found . But one of the last places I would apply to is a new place because everyone and their brother is going to.
