I am planning to do something controversial, eating eggs immediately after worming with Ivermectin.

Love this thread! Discourse is brilliant save for that gross condescension. Happy to follow the withdrawal times in order to not accidentally create resistant parasites, despite not causing any harm to myself. I’m just thoughtful like that😎. Anyone citing not trusting things from China or Russia on this thread is suss…

what about hatching the eggs that were laid in the days after treating hens with ivermectin sheep drench topically . Will the chicks be messed up somehow? Or maybe they will be super chicks?

ooops nvm i see this q has been answered already. they will be super chicks YaY

We've always ignored withdrawal times and eaten our eggs after our chickens get medicine, under the rationale that these tests are done on raw eggs and we always cook our eggs before eating them. (We try not to give away eggs during the withdrawal periods though.)

From someone who took "horse Iver" treating the "plague" a few years ago (in a measured weight appropriate dose) - I would not expect ill effect from the trace amount in chicken eggs ( maybe if you ate 2 dozen a day for 3 weeks straight lol).

The problem isn't using it when it's actually needed and in the proper dosing, but consuming or putting smaller quantities of say for example things like Ivermectin into your body and environment so that you're not actually killing off worms, but allow them to build resistance to the drug.

Why there's concern about the drugs becoming ineffective or inadvertently creating "super bugs" with an immunity we have no drug for.

So no I don't use it as maintenance I use it to kill.

I’m assuming you are still well years later?! Haha! I have taken Iver myself to treatment parasites, so I wondered what the big deal would be to eat eggs with a little Iver in it. I may feed the first couple days of eggs back to the girls, but I don’t see an issue with consuming them myself.
