But, you have to accept then that some people like your friends might buy them and kill them. Sadly, not everyone has the guts to raise birds properly.

I wish, but my mom almost didn't let me keep the ones I have now!!! I am hoping when they hatch she will see how cute they are and let me keep them

it is also hard to find homes for them here, a lot of people would try to raise them outside, or butcher them. as they do not get that they are a pet bird and cannot survive outside. and have no meat on them. it is actually quite frusterating.

Actually, in Africa, they eat African Grey parrots. Any bird of any size is edible! There is an old song, "four and 20 blackbirds baked in a pie".
