I am so FED UP!**They are rehoming dog - Post #35 **

We STILL havent gotten a hold of the neighbor. They aren't home when we are and its annoying.

Classroomducks - I understand that, and know that I cant blame a dog for instincts but this isnt the first time she has killed / attacked my ducks on MY property.

CUrrent count:

Injured : 10
Dead: 8

This is the count from 11/10/09 till this past saturday. Thats eighteen birds. And Im tired of it.

I would be so upset also. I would def talk to the neighbor about it and see what they say. Next time I would catch the dog and take it to a shelter at least they will have to pay a fine to pick up there dog and then they will start watching their dogs more. If they were crappy neighbors I would threaten to shoot the dog for killing your birds, not that I could do it, but then they will see how serious the situation is especially because people don't see ducks as pets.

You need to talk to that neighbor..I would not care about being nice..
I'd TRY to be nice..but if they denied or dismissed what happend then i'd call the police.
Actually you should call the police anyways..just to cover your butt...
I'd warn them that their dog is in grave danger if you see it on your property again... and that you mean it.

Whether you talk to the neighbor or not, a call to the sheriff is in order...I had a problem a few times years ago with a dog that came over from three doors down that would come and harass my goats and horses and then run off...I sent the sheriff over there and he told them that I was threatening to shoot their dog and that I was within my rights to shoot their dog on my property as a livestock owner, and that he had told me so. Told the owner that he was now given fair warning. Never saw the dog again.

And i know how you feel..i wanted to kill my OWN dogs when they killed my ducks..
I had to step away from them..so i wouldnt take it out on them.

What those dogs did to your ducks has to be in violation of some law! You should find out what laws apply where you live and arm your parents with them. That will help them realize the gravity of the situation and give them reasonable ammunition when they talk to your neighbors. Depending on the jurisdiction call the sheriff, police, and/or animal control to find out what laws apply where you live. You may want to make a report yourself as well as relying on your parents to resolve this. Maybe the authorities will get involved in your behalf.

I just realized this morning that the missing duckling is my Skittles Junior.

This duckling looked just like a blue swedish duck. He/she was the main duckling that I was planning on keeping because he reminded me so much of my very first duck ever. I am just so upset all over again.

Dad is talking to the neighbors right now, so ill post again when he gets home and tells me what happend.

When my neighbors dogs killed a few of my ducks I told them they were expensive show ducks

I know that money wont fix your loss but it will help. Hope the little missing guy shows up!

I'm so sorry for your loss, that is such a horrible thing.
But If I was you I would have shot that dog a long time ago. Here's to hoping your dad had a good talk with the neighboroughs.
