Hello all -

New chicken-obsessed member here. One week ago today I brought home the chicks listed in my signature (there was one more Hamburg, but she died of unknown causes two days after she came here).

I am in southern Minnesota where it is still way too cold to have the chicks outside, so they are all in one of my back bedrooms. They are of different ages, from two weeks to 12 weeks, so they're in different brooders. I cannot believe how beautiful and entertaining they are. I find myself looking for excuses to go back to their room and then 20 minutes later I realize I've been standing there staring at them for 20 minutes. I was late for work every day last week because of this, and my house is a royal mess because I can't do any one thing for more than a half hour before I go back to "check on" my chicks.

I love BYC and am constantly on here looking up advice as I've had a number of health issues with my birds this past week. I am grateful for this forum.

Take care!

Artie

. They're so silly, and funny/ entertaining! I beg my dad to let me stay home from school to just watch them..

Welcome from Northern California. I'm a newbie too and have become addicted to this website. So much information, so many freindly and experienced breeders ready and willing to share their wisdom with us. I love it.
I just ordered some eggs and an incubator. I'm sure I'll be spending all my time looking at the eggs every few minutes and not getting anything accomplished either. Oh well, the housework will always be there LOL....and life is short
