I am so stinkin' excited!

It's beautiful. I'm excited for you. I had wanted my own chickens as far back as I can remember. When the moment finally happened and my dream was going to become reality, I almost passed out & im pretty sure I had an out of body experience at the feed store. Ya, the guy at the feed store thought I was a little odd.

:lau....:highfive:

Ok. Yesterday we went to the Home Depot and fetched the wood. My dearest husband come home and went straight to work. He set himself up a light and worked into the night. He got all the posts for one end cut, painted and installed. Woo Hoo!!!

He is doing such a good job. He will probably start attaching the HWC tonight after work. The carport guys left us two long pieces of the metal that they used on the rest of the carport, so my husband was able to cut it and use it as the bottom piece so no wood will be touching the ground.

All the wood bits will be painted in the dark brown color as we are doing a medieval village theme for the run and coop. Can't wait to get this all done and in use.

We will be filling this gap in with hardware cloth after he gets the walls done. We already installed in 18" in front of the fence. You can see it peeking under the fence. My husband built me a small raised bed planter in front of that fence as well so I am hoping nothing will be digging under from the fence side.

If anyone sees anything we are doing wrong, please let us know as I am only going to get this one chance to get it done right. Thanks for all your encouraging words.

LOL!!! I have had chickens since 2001, but in 2004 we had to sell our house and my lovely little cottage coop with it. Since then it has been sort of slap dash with our coop situation. In 2011, I had planned to build a new coop where we lived at the time, but then, viola, we found this house and bought it and again, the chicken coop was put on hold. We put them in a beautiful 10 by 15 shed that was already on the property and was supposed to be my husband's work shop. He wants his workshop back, so he has to build the chickens a new home and evict them from his shed. So now, I am getting my dream coop and he is getting his dream workshop! A fair trade in my mind.
