I am thinking of getting maybe a trio or quad of Cotournix

$5 is pretty steep, but if your only getting a couple its up to you. That would be a pretty good coop for a bunch of coturnix, they don't need much. They could live with 4 sq ft. but would appreciate more, plus give yourself room for more quail.

we only have one gentleman that sells coturnix close to me he gets a $1 a chick , minimun of 25 if I did,nt have to feed them little buggers and clean their cages etc for 5-7 weeks it may be worth it to me to just pay $5-6 a bird but I have 10 4 week olds right now and some more on the way.

The magic number would be one roo and 4-5 hens. If you don't have enough hens, the roo can get pretty rough on them

yes i was thinking about that , so do you think 3 hens - rooster , so the rooster does not get so rough on them?

Price is a regional thing. 5 a peice no matter what the age is outrageous here, but may be normal there... 3 to 1 may work well, but if your ladd is overly vigorous lover it may not--- all kinda depends on the individual birds..
