Awwww....my rottie is the same way with my chicks.
I am tired of them being in the house.

Something that works for me is, use the shavings but not around the food and water. Once a day i use my good old shop vac to clean their pen out, the chicks dont mind it. Just dont give them an unexcepted ride up the hose.:
