i have no idea why i even read the whole sirese.(sp) i really dont.

That is interesting. I bet that the author's own experiences have something to do with Bella's personality.

I was a lot like Bella in that I was awkward and shy but because I was rejected I had no desire to reject others. If anything my adolescence taught me to be overly sensitive to other's pain. It also made me protective toward those who are different then anyone else.

I think that Twilight would be a better book if boys were shown as not being interested in Bella and she had difficulty making friends. Then Edward found her interesting because she secretly has a funny sense of humor that she keeps hidden, or she has a compassionate nature or they share a love for literature.

Maybe he could have helped her grow and learn to express herself instead of hiding behind her shyness.

Okay, I will from here on out not over analyze this book, I promise.


It is interesting that the author and I had similar personalities in highschool but we would have created completly different characters based on our selves.

Oh wow, I feel like a loner here haha, because I actually really like the books.
But I can tell you, Bella doesn't change, and the boys still love her throughout the books.

My daughters got me to read the series and I got to admit, your right about Bella. But I didn't really per say dislike her that much. I saw it as "Romantic" as the series progressed. Guess I was looking for some good in her to come to that conclusion...lol. I liked the books much more than the movies so far.

I dislike how people use the "It's for teenagers!" excuse to rationalize away the bad character development. As someone who frequents the young adult section of libraries because of the truly amazing books that can be found there, I know for a fact it's hogwash. I can even name series that skew younger than that that have great character development . . . "Animorphs" springs immediately to mind, as well as "The Great Brain" and anything by Mary Downing Hahn. Please, quit underestimating young people, lest they live up to those expectations.
