I am very concerned and becoming very heart broken...:0(

I just noticed that several of my girls are sneezing and have watery beaks....I'm assuming that is a respiratory disease of some sort. I had noticed one was making some sneezing noises the last couple of days but now several have the wet nose.
I just read this thread....https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=116191 and now i'm heart broken at the thought that i might have to cull my birds.

Also have to say that i have not interacted with anyone else's birds or introduced any new ones to my coop.

Is this their fate? Would they be carriers? Should i toss the eggs from the last couple of days?

I am absolutely heartbroken if i have to get rid of my girls.

It's probably just a cold...chickens can get them. Head colds and chest colds, just like us. If you haven't introduced any newbies to your flock, then I wouldn't panic.

See other posts i've read on here say that they don't get just normal colds. It's usually a disease. I'm so confused!!!!!

I've put so much into my birds....I don't mean money i mean time and care. I would be sick if this is as bad as i thought.

I have had chickens get over colds. Rub beaks with vet RX and give them electrolyte water. Provide extra warmth and darkness for rest. Best wishes!

We've had chickens get colds too and we have never lost one yet. A weak one might die of pneumonia, as might a weakened person. Pretty unlikely. Buck up!

There is a lot of things that can cause this such as dusty feed or just dust in general, stress or illness. What I would do is to track down the State Vet. and talk to them. They may want to get blood samples to isolate the cause and then they could reccomend a course of treatment.

Of course as with us most resp. illnesses in chickens have basically the same symptoms and it often takes some testing to figure it out.
