I know all these "Sex my Silkies" threads prolly get old & tired for the Ultimate Silkie folks, but PLEASE, just one more time, guys? LOL I just got myself some more. These are all bearded, so that's my excuse for buying, since until now, I was unable to find any for sale locally. The actual owner of the farm is an older gentleman who's feeling under the weather right now, so his son sold me the birds, but wasn't totally sure on all their ages. The first 2 are esp. tame, so they are prolly going to be pets for my neice. Here's the rundown & some pics...(excuse the yucky feet- we just had big rain here in La., so their pens were like mudtown @ the farm & I haven't cleaned them up yet cuz I'm on here looking to share the joy!!! yay!)

#1 -the following 2 are the same bird. SPLASH GIRL, 6 WEEKS?

#2 -THE FOLLOWING 3 ARE THE SAME BIRD. Black pullet? About 7-8 months?

#3- THE FOLLOWING 2 ARE THE SAME BIRD. Splash boy? 6 weeks?

#4- FOLLOWING 3 PICS ARE SAME BIRD. Black pullet ? 7=8 months?

#5 FOLLOWING 3 PICS ARE SAME BIRD. Splash girl? 5-6 weeks?

They are sooo docile unlike my other young silkies. These have not been handled much, unlike my own, (theirs are kept outside in a big flock w/ way too many birds for much one on one time), but I'm thinking maybe the ones I already have are influenced to go nuts because of the company they keep (layer types that go nuts. LOL)

Come on, y'all! Please help me out here! My lil city-dwelling niece would like 2 for her b-day, so I'd like to do my best to give her girls for the no-crow factor. I'd really appreciate it sooooo much!

They were labeled, but the words were getting lost between ginormous pics. I redid it now for better visibility. Thanks! I guess all of the Silkie gods on BYC are bored of the sexing game...WAHHHHHHHHHH!

ok, i am new at silkies, but if they are getting streamers on the top, that is a male- so here is my guess... not sure what it is worth...

#1 doesn't show any long streamers yet, and her topnot seems to be pretty uniform, i guess pullet
#2 by this age if this one was a roo, the streamers would be obvious
#3 roo
#4 pullet
#5 pullet



these guys are about 4 months

That's great, Robin! I'd read about the streamers, but since I'm SUCH a newb,(I'm talkin' since mid-Feb.) I didn't even think about that aspect! I see the defined streamers in your pics, esp. #2. Pretty birds! Your guess is the same as mine. I guess we'll see...Also, I had them out in the full sunlight today, & #2 is actually a very dark blue, I'm thinking. #4 is really black all over, but #2 is a softer dark grey on the underparts, etc. What do y'all think on that? Cool. e...Anybody else???
