I bought a 10x16 repo wooden shed last night!!! NOT a rant :D

We got the interior painted and some winows cut out for light and air. Today I lay the floor, then DH will build coops 1 & 2. We're making progess!!

DH got runs 1 & 2 laid out and level. Next is the wire. I am NOT looking forward to that part!
After doing the painting and floor I ache in places I forgot could ache!!

The shed, as of 9:30am.

You can see the old coops to the left. The biggest will be chopped up and used to make the runs behind the shed. The little one will be kept as quarantine and/or broody housing.

The window is a temp job, done to let in light and air as we painted and tiled the interior. We have a second-hand window that will be installed later today. We're putting up the run right now (I'm on a water break LOL).

Looks like a very nice set up you got going there. Your chickens will be very happy congrates on the new coop.

We looked at buying one of those sheds but they are way too high priced even when repoed. They are sold all over the east coast all made out of state. I see them trucked in often.

ACK! He cut a hole in my shed!!!!!!!!

We did most of the wiring of runs 1 & 2. And the used window will go in the enormous hole.

Got one more section of roof to complete (DH miscalculated on the # of rolls). Then everything will be done except burying the bottom portion of hardware cloth. The seams are( will be) hand-sewn by me, but I've only done the roof so far. I will do the walls when it's a bit cooler and I can have a kid inside to pass the wire back through. It's a scorcher today!!

Cybercat, my shed was actually made at the Mennonite crafts place in TN. It has a serial number on it and I looked it up. It wasn't cheap, but DH said we couldn't build anything as sturdy for less (parts only, not counting labor). And I've been saving for this baby all year. Now, when I tell my broody I'll let her hatch another clutch in a couple of weeks, I don't get a dirty look!

I'd been banned from hatching until I got a shed.

We've reached a compromise: The incubator(s) can still be in the house (dust free zone), and the 'newborn' brooder box. The rest will be in the shed.

But for now I have a broody desperately volunteering for duty!
She can't until we move everyone into the shed.

Hello, your new shed looks great! I have to get motivated & do the same here soon for my lt brahams. Just letting you know the Seramas I got from you are doing great! Have 11 eggs in the bator from your ro & two of my hens. They should peep tomorrow, and I think your little pullet laid her first egg today.

Yeah, hubby's been rethinking that plan on many levels. It's currently on hold while we study the options more fully. He thought a screen on top was adequate, until a pointed out I wanted better than a screen, msquito proofing, an possibly filtering before it got to my babes.
His worry? That it may freeze in the winter...
