Hi again all!
Teila I am disappointed that your eggs didn't arrive
Can you track them? If you let the breeder knowwould she maybe offer to replace with a new batch b/c of the delay. I actually have heard both big end up and small end up. Big end is prevailing wisdom but small end has a loyal following. I would check out the hatching 101 article...I will look for the link.
Other than that sounds like a lovely weekend!
A few pics of some of my spring and summer chicks. I really wanted to snap a pic of Stella but she is so shy, she was not having it!
These first two are Cosmo. He is officially crowing and though I haven't seen him seal the deal yet he has shown interest in some of the pullets. The big girls intimidate him and I am pretty sure he is trying to remain under Ike's radar.

Petunia in the foreground

This is Magnus it is hard to see in this pic but he is huge. He hatched 7/2 and is larger than some of my boys who are 3 weeks old. I am torn about keeping him he is so gorgeous, fast growing and pretty mellow.

This is Reese he is my other Konza boy. He was moving so it is blurry but he is chocolate brown and gold barred. The Breeder is going for a camoflaged bird that won't be easily seen by ariel predators. I think Reese has what she was looking for. Plus he was auto sexing...hatched with a head spot.

Another shot of Magnus

This shows Reese color better but he kind of just looks like a pile of feathers here.

And here is sweet Daphne! I had to take pics of her from a distance because if I hunker down she is on me and all you would see in the pic would be her beak and eyeball

This gives you an idea of Magnus' size the other two are his hatchmates and Reese is no pip squeak. That handsome devil in the back is Ike and behind him is one of my Red Star boys, Ike continues to be super tolerant of the cockerels. Fingers crossed that that continues The REd Star boys have not started crowing but I expect it any day.
