I Built A Bridge!

Teila,

Thanks for the great pictures of your Mission Possible Blue faced broody. She is adorable and the nest is fab. as well. I think she could be on commercials.

This chica egg from yesterday on the left looks quite different than this brown egg found in the nest box today. Hmmm... Is a wellie contributing to the egg basket?
I would suspect it's from someone else. Wellsummers lay dark, terracotta, eggs - much darker than either of those. Enjoy the abundance, regardless!

Unless she's hiding them (unlikely), Marsha hasn't laid in 3 days. She might be on strike until Broodzilla calms down, or she might be doing an early molt, or a combination of both. Sigh.
Grace and Rousseau have been sparring between the wire separating the short nest. I want to integrate them tomorrow - those bubbies have been waiting a long time while the popular kids run amok. I'm nervous about it, wish us luck!

16 paws thank you

Sorry, I definitely do not have the expertise to help you with identifying your egg layer but agree with 16 paws in that your wish for more brown eggs appears to have been granted. If only that would work on ‘no roosters this hatch please'!

Liz out of the two options, Broodzilla or moult, I am guessing Broodzilla is probably the preferred option with regards your egg supply? Especially if Marsha decided to do a hard moult. There again, she could try and beat Dusty’s close to 6 months effort

Wishing you lots of luck for the integration.

You have quite a bit of room for them so you would hope they can work it out or at least stay out of each other’s zone. Please keep us up-to-date.

Good morning Bridge Club

A big hooray for the weekend! It is nice and early on Saturday morning and the gals have got their breakfast; quick check on BYC and a couple of inside chores to get out of the way and then it is outside to spend the day in the garden with the gals.

Probably better wait until the concrete dudes have been (08:30) and filled the driveway back in; I do not think the gals will be impressed when that happens.

Everything AOK at Bambrook Bantams

Hi Teila,

Hope you have a fun filled weekend with the girls.
Oh by the way, have you had "that" talk with Tinas eggs yet? You know the one that you tell the eggs what sex they will be? Like all girls... I am thinking this would be a good time for it, you know , before things get too far along?
Just saying, because I think I forgot to do that with my hatches.

Good luck,
Marie

Hey there 16 paws

I confess to not having ‘the talk’ with Tina’s eggs

With the odds stacked against us the way they are, I will be pretty chuffed if any of them even hatch. I would love another Frizzle girl but as I mentioned before, not only are we battling ‘older’, shipped eggs we also have to factor in the Frizzle gene as well. Realistically, I do not think the odds are good but optimistically, I have everything crossed. Let’s hope I knew what I was doing when I took this chance and that little Frizzle girl is indeed developing. One of the eggs is from a White Silkie so we may even get a Sizzle!
