PulletChicken in question, Dad, Mum. About 3 -4 months old. I just can’t decide.
New Hampshire red (like you guessed) cockerelWas labeled Buff Orpington female, all yellow chick. Now I think likely a NH Red (black tail feathers, a little black markings coming in along the shoulders). 8 weeks. Very sweet. That comb, though.... View attachment 2198152
2, 3, 6, 7, and 13 are possible pullets, the rest are cockerels3 weeks and 3 days.
I hatched them out of my flock egss. I mixed NN ROOSTER with Wlellsumer, SUSSEX, LEGBAR.. and olso Colored Meat chickens..
How old is the Orpington? Your guesses about the first four are right, the last two are cockerelsI have 7 birds here. The first is an Orpington that seems halfway between my other Orpingtons and likes to fight the cockerels. View attachment 2198196The remaining 6 are Barred Rock? I think the first two are pullets.View attachment 2198201View attachment 2198202
and then two cockerels...View attachment 2198199View attachment 2198200But then these last two are way in color lighter than the other two cockerels with much much smaller/paler combs and wattles so they have me second guessing. All the supposedly pure barred rocks are from the same hatch.View attachment 2198197View attachment 2198198
CockerelI’d love it if someone would weigh in on this one.
That’s what I was afraid of. I have a Polish cockerel and he’s very sweet. The one pictured is being hateful to him. So, do you mind helping me for future reference? The tail feathers are short and stick straight up, the saddle feathers seem so small compared to the Polish(same age), no crowing(Polish let us know weeks ago), and wattles are pink as compared to the red of the Polish. Is this just a breed variation? I will say that this one picks at the Polish cockerel, but not the Polish pullets. I actually had to treat his head today.Cockerel
