The Pyr pup I rescued has Parvo and is at the vets. I feel like the plague. I spent the weekend sleeping in the kitchen on the floor with her because she was throwing up but thought it was just the huge stress of the tremendous change in environment and diet until Sun night when she began to be unable to keep water down.

Mon morning we were at the vet when they opened and had a diagnosis by 9:00. I spent yesterday bleaching the world but blessing my sense in keeping her in the kitchen, separate from the rest of the house since she'd gotten here.

My vet says we caught it early, and that she'll probably recover. I hate Parvo, it can look good then take bad turns, it's deceitful in it's course. I miss her. She's different from Naga but still that same innate sense of thought and calm. She was far f ar far less socialized than Naga, and freaks sometimes when you go to pick her up, having never been picked up in her life before.

Still there was a moment, on Saturday when she did actually climb into my lap. And she's was becoming a tummy rub hog, expecting a belly rub when you did pet her. Up went that back leg. Rub IT.

And now this. I can barely stand it, though as bad as it was where I found her, I shouldn't be this surprised.

Thoughts and prayers appreciated, soon I have to go bleach more stuff...

Thanks you guys. Ed my vet said it's likely that every one of those pups that goes straight out to livestock and outdoor housing is going to have it's symptoms missed until too late. Which makes me sad.

I DID call the breeder. He, of course, said he'd vaccinated. But given that incubation is 5-10 days and she started being sick Saturday. They've all got it. I tried to get him to promise to call all the new owners but I don't think he has all their phone numbers.

Our vet says we caught it quickly and she's responding quickly and beginning to object to being caged this morning. A typical Pyr is a nice sign.

With some luck I might get my Mac back.

Unfortunately giant breed dogs have a lower survival rate with the virus than small dogs have.
I'm sorry your dog is ill. I would think about calling animal control with concerns about the rest of the litter, especially with the shape they were in when you saw them.
