I cannot win. Mac has Parvo

I did call AC both before about the conditions and after I learned of the Parvo.

So far she's doing well on the treatment. She's beginning to protest that is is NOT RIGHT to crate the Pyr. That's my girl.

OH I am so glad you caught this early! Parvo is so awful!!

I will be praying for you and Mac!

I am so sorry.

I just went though this myself. It is a nasty thing to have. I hope he gets well soon. My prayers for you and him are on the way.

I'm sitting here with my "parvo" puppy... she's a healthy 4 year old mutt...

Until moving here.. I NEVER HEARD of dogs really suriving having Parvo... around here.. it happens ALL THE TIME ... I dunno what it is... either I only knew of cases before where it went unnoticed too long or around here.. it's not as severe a strain perhaps??

btw.. I saved a fortune doing IVs & home treatment... I have fond memories of Ginger in my lap; IV bag hanging from the entertainment center while we watched TV & did her treatments...

good luck

I'm so sorry she is sick! Maybe this was just part of "the plan" to make you two grow closer? I hope it all works out perfectly. We'll be praying for her speedy recovery.

unfortunately even dogs that get shots can and do get parvo..thats why they need to have the whole series before being exposed to the enviroment..even your own back yard, you never know when a parvo dog ran through the yard in the middle of the night...I will try to explain how shots work..you have say 4 pups, they all get shots at 6 weeks, well only one is able to use the shot and make immunities, then 2 weeks later another shot is given, then puppy 2 is able to make immunities, and so on..see the problem is we dont know when any pup is able to make the immunities, and so its a give and hope thing, thats why they need them so often and should be minimal exposed to the outside world until after 14 weeks..I myself give a neopar at 5 weeks, this can be given at 4 weeks if in a high parvo area, then a DA2PPv at 6 weeks, another Neopar at 7 weeks and another DA2PPv at 8 weeks,9 weeks another Neopar,10 weeks another DA2PPv..then no more neopar but a DA2PPv at 12 and 14 weeks..Neopar has shown to even be effective in sick dogs..but many vets dont stock it or even know what it is..it has the highest titers of any vacc,

Pyrs are so unbelievably smart I just bet Mac chose you for a reason. She knew you were the only one who would be able to help. Don't give up just yet. Before you know it she will be chewing up everything she can get in her mouth. Like the down comforter. Oh wait that was my pyr puppy four years ago.

My golden Murphy is a parvo survivor. He got it at 6 weeks old The lady I got him from said the farrier brought it into her yard. Murphy was only 1 of 5 that survived a litter of 12. I do notice that Murphy has some issues that I expect are from the parvo. He can not see far away. He barks at you until you are 10-15 feet away before he can tell its you. He has also been known to run into trees. So I have a very neurotic dog but hes the love of my life. Hope your Mac becomes a survivor too. Micki
