I can't believe how many people there are from Alaska on here

Southeast and Southcentral Alaska get more winter daylight than the interior, and above the Arctic Circle it's 24 hours without daylight. But in the summer, the reverse is true, and we don't really see stars from May to the end of September. The winters make you really appreciate the summer!
The skeetos haven't been too bad this year (knock on wood) despite the rain.

Max, yes... the runs have been out of whack for the last few years. This year was a good return, actually... they upped the limit for Reds in the Kenai this year to 6/day/person instead of 3.

I haven't put electric up around my chicken house yet.

And we do have a bear in the area.
*sigh*

The house is pretty well made though...and the area bear hasn't tried breaking into buildings ..... yet:rolleyes:

Talking to locals....my big worry was the stoats and weasels in the winter time.

And I REALLY wish I could figure out how to keep the water OUTSIDE all year long.

We haven't had any bear problems yet this year (knock on wood). Even the skeetos have been tame this year. The bunnies have gone wild this year, so next year will be a good coyote year.

I liked Bellingham, too... I do miss WA at times, though with all the rain we've gotten, it feels just like it!

Man, that's hard to believe(I believe you of course). I never saw mosquitoes as bad as I did when we were on the Denali Highway in 03. Fish creek baby!!! 100% deet lasted about 30 minutes!!! You needed two people to fish; one guy to cast the line, the other with a 12ga shotgun to shoot the mosquitoes!!

If people have never been to Fish Creek near Cantwell, AK, you’re missing one of the most beautiful places on earth. It’s absolutely captivating. Such astounding natural beauty, it make you believe in a higher power. These photos do nothing.

Cantwell, and the area surrounding Denali National Park, is some of the most beautiful country in the world. No doubt.

Someone needs to tell my Dad, lol! Mom told me this morning that the limit is 3 right now. A few years ago I remember it being 6. Perhaps he is behind the times on limits...

I could be wrong, but a week or two ago it was 6...

They were SLAYING them on the Kenai in Sterling a week ago.

I love how AK does its regs. If it needs doing, AFG does it. Period. It shuts it down or raises the limit or whatever cause that's what needs to be done. Down here it's a joke. It takes months if not years for the yahoos to decide what to do. It has to go to this committee or that group and there it sits. In lots of instances by the time the get done deciding, it's way too late.
