I can't believe I'm building a chicken coop.

And bonus... I found out my baby silkie is not just a silkie... it's actually a silkie/polish mix! She has quite a hairdo on her. And I don't know if she's a she or a he but whatever she is, her name is Kylo Ren. LOL.

you should not need to pound them, they are a screw not a nail.

screw them in, if they get tight, put drill in reverse and wind it partly out, then try again.

pilot holes will help alot

Just a thought , is the drill going in the right direction for the screw?

We got past that a long time ago...did you read the whole thread?
It's a great story!

And if you used one of those roofs, you could get an IBC to catch the rainwater... ;-)

I found 2 55 gallon drums at craigslist! I'm gonna go figure out how to put a gutter. Then figure out how to make those PVC chicken waterer gadgets! More improvements to come!

Do you know that it rained every single day here for going on a month now. I could've supplied the chickens with water to last a few years.

The west wall is finally framed. Thanks everyone for convincing me to invest in a different drill. The corded one worth every penny!! Using the little Ryobi to drill starter holes : a manual screwdriver to screw the deck screws in to anchor them and quick work to finish them.

How is it going? I'm so interested in your coop build! I didn't even think to paint my coop! Your west wall is like an engineer's perfection. It's perfect 90 degree angles! My coop is leaning to the left. The horizontal pieces are perfectly leveled but the vertical pieces are leaning. In hindsight, I shoulda known to grab that giant metal ruler in my husband's treasure trove of tools - it's like 2 rulers forming half of a square. That would have been perfect guide to make 90 degree angles on the frame. I'll keep it in mind in case I go crazy and buy more chickens that need another coop...

You got more pictures? I'm like watching Fixer Upper waiting for your "reveal"!
