I use an angle grinder like this with a cut off blade on 14ga fencing:

Blade that will cut metal is not going to work well on wood, green or dry.
Use a hand pruning saw for those.

True, but with only about a 2" depth of cut, I'd rather take down saplings with a good pruning saw.....much more efficient and not nearly as dangerous.
Would be really awkward with the straight shaft 'cut off saw' that was linked.

Bought a new stronger drill at Harbor Freight and a set of longer screw driver bits for it. Hoping it works better for deck screws, it certainly weighs a lot more! Would have loved a DeWalt but can't can't justify the $$$'s.

Batteries are great for fixing lawn furniture, but if you can use it, nothing outpowers/outlasts good ol' AC*. And yeah, drilling pilot holes will make your job a LOT easier, especially when you have to use 3"+ screws because the 2"-2 1/2" aren't long enough, even if the drill bit is a little shorter than the screw.

So far it put one screw in the rest of the way that wasn't budging on Sunday, so hopeful. I had to try it out. I love my battery one for working on my house remodel as it is light, fits my hand well, and it doesn't tire my hands. My hands are not strong due to old injuries and arthritis. Probably will end up doing the pilot holes to may life easier. Thankfully the weekend ahead is supposed to be cooler so hopefully will make a lot of progress.
