I Can't Believe This!

But in this case, it is more than just an opinion.

Teachers are in a position of trust. We as parents trust teachers to share knowledge. Knowledge defined as *the sum of what is known : the body of truth, information, and principles acquired by humankind*
What she is sharing is one of those words that would get me in trouble with the mods.

She has a responsibility to the children in her classroom to share knowledge, not opinion or old wives tales.
If this had been a person on the street saying these things, I dont think the OP would be upset. Its the fact that this person is a teacher that is causing the issue.
Teachers are held to a higher standard than most.

So it's far beyond a case of annoying, its misinformation.

Let me see if I understand. He was bringing in eggs with the permission of his teacher, a substitute FOR ANOTHER CLASS heard a rumor that he had eggs in his locker, and took it upon herself to inspect his locker for the eggs? Then SHE sets about imposing penalties and seizong the eggs? Where was the principal in all of this fiasco? Perhaps if it had been a clas she was substituting for, or if she was substituting for the principal, or an immediate danger such as fire, a weapon, etc., but as it is, she overstepped her authority BIG TIME.

At the very least, the school and the substitute owe you and the student apologies. She owes you the cost of the eggs had you sold them. Both the school who hired her (unless they immediately discipline her) and she can be sued for slander, and since she wrote about the incident, also for libel. She has no basis to claim that your birds have salmonella or that the eggs are rotten. It does sound like she has a vendetta against you for some reason; this is NOT a Christian attitude. Quite frankly, if I had kids in that school, I would be doing everything in my power to prevent a person of that character who is so unbalanced from teaching there at all, and certainly not my children.

You need to make an appoitment with and speak directly to the principal. Go in with specific requests for what you want done (apologies, discipline to or firing of the substitute, etc.) for hte school and substitute to make amends.

I think the substitute should be punished. She should be REQUIRED, as a condition of future employment, to do a research paper on poultry, egg laying, color, genetics, food safety regarding fresh laid eggs, and present it to the class she wigged out on.

What is this world coming to!!!!

thanks all for explaining how you felt about my comment...'course...it don't change my mind(mental health diagnoses need to be made by doctors, not people who are angry and offended about EGGS), LOL, but I do see your POV.

It was perhaps out of line for me to say I thought she had a screw loose, but it wasn't her opinions that made me feel that way. It was her over the top reaction. I would be really interested to know how she reacts in the classroom when one of the kids sets her off. I'll bet the hysteria over the eggs is not an isolated incident.

It's not all that normal to accuse someone of poisoning children, though. That's pretty extreme behavior. Her ignorance, that's just sad and scary, for a teacher.

Yep..she has a screw loose...
Shes a few sandwiches short of a picnic...
Not the brighest bulb on the tree...
I bet she rode the short bus too.
Just my opinion... as usual.
