About a month ago, one of our pullets began laying. She has given us an egg a day, almost without failure. Days are getting shorter, there is no artificial light given them, it's cold, and today we got two eggs for the first time! It won't be long before the store can keep their eggs.

I stopped trying to figure it out. This time last year I had 6 hens.
from October til the end of Dec if I got 1 or 2 a day, but in Jan and Feb I was getting 4 or 5.

Now i have 14 hens and I'm getting 8 to 11 every day. Come Jan and Feb I'll be up to my (insert expletive here) in eggs.

I thought I would get lots of eggs from April to Oct then things would slow down or stop for the winter. I'm finding out that it's exactly the opposite.
It was 22 degrees last night and it's been raining buckets all day, but I still gathered 10 eggs.
