I can't get medicine for cocci, how can I help my sick chick? UPDATE

I have a chick in a cardboard box in the kitchen displaying signs of cocci. She is 6 or 7 weeks old and was fine until this morning, the first cold night in the coop. Down to about 8 celcius. She was acting like she was cold, but it continued so I put her in a box. I am giving her an antibiotic in the water but I guess that won't really help. Also feeding cooked egg which she is eating a lot of. She will drink a bit, eat a bit of yogurt and a tiny bit of food.
She is shaking like crazy, is weak and a bit awkward on her feet and is all fluffed up. Looks miserable.
The feed stores here do not carry corid amproylium or sulmet to my knowledge. They are not really into medicine, just food and equipment.
Could my chick make it on her own? Is there anything else I could do? I am in Nova Scotia, does anyone know who would supply this stuff?

Your chick could die in a few hours, or she could make it long enough to get the meds. Either way you should order them so you will have them on hand for any other chicks you raise. Do they not sell medicated chick starter where you are?

They were primarily on medicated food, but sometimes I tossed a handful of the unmedicated in their pen. Could my chick survive without the medicine? (i will try to get it for sure to have on hand, I am just wondering)

Pepto Bismol or milk..These will coat the intestines and help keep the undigested proteins from entering the bloodstream..This may buy you some time till you get the correct meds

Yeah, make sure to also put her under a heat lamp and keep her warm too.

Just for the record, as to the medicated feed, lots of chicks that are medicated feed have problems with coccidiosis. It's meant to be preventative and not a cure.

You need to keep her warm and order the meds asap. If they get there too late...you'll have them on hand for any of your other chicks that may get sick. The heat will also help you buy time -
But, you really need the meds. In the mean time - I would make sure she only gets the medicated feed and clean fresh water.

8C is equivalent to 46-47F. That awfully cold for a chick that age. It should be at least 70F for a chick at 6-7 weeks. Get a heat source on that chick asap, continue the feeding of chick starter, medicated or not, and clean water. Put in a stuffed animal or another chick for comfort.

I am not sure what you refer to as signs of cocci, so I can't say much in that case. But first, that chick needs to be warmed.

If one chick has cocci, chances are they will ALL have it and be showing bloody stool as a symptom. I suspect you have a badly chilled chick.

Good luck, please consider bringing them all in until they are better able to handle the cold.
