mmm...I've read sooo many horse books, such as black beauty, all the Misty of Chincoteague(sorry spelled that wrong probably) series, a lot of the black stallion books, the Horse Shoe Trilogies series, etc etc etc... in fact I just finished a book called Jumper, and it's about a girl named Reese who takes riding lessons and loves horses but is too poor to lease/buy her own horse. and then there are wild horses and she sees a beautiful chestnut mare she names Rosie and the wild horses are caught to be sold for auction because the military says they are ruining the landscape. Reese bids on Rosie but a mean man outbids her and buys a lot of other horses using other people's names because he can't buy a certain number of horses. He intends on selling them to slaughter for money, and this is illegal so when Reese finds out she has to try and prove that he's going to sell them to slaughter houses for money and she has to save Rosie. A pretty good book.

But anyway, I've never read the book you're describing, even if I've read many others.
