thanks! I have fallen completely head over heels for those little peepers!!

I don't think they got the memo about liking warm though! I took my dog's 48" wire kennel out to the back yard and set it up for them. I left half of the tray out so the kennel floor was half grass / half tray. Then I filled the tray with dirt from the pending chicken yard. Anyway, I took the chicks outside to enjoy the warm sunshine. The little GCs could fit through the wire, so I left them in a box half in the sun, half in the shade. The others I put in the kennel.

Sit... stare at the wide wide world. Move from the dirt to the grass and sit. Dirt... grass. Then one of the Brahmas squeeeeeeezed and came through the wire straight to me! She was panting so I put her in the shade with the little ones (yes, they all had water). Then, the BRs stood at the corner nearest me peeping and pressing to teh wire trying to come through. The other DB was panting and came straight to me when I opened the door and called. I dont' know whether to be thrilled that they come to me so willingly or concerned they think THIS is hot?!?! We live in FLORIDA! Hello? LOL

I read on a breeder's page that the comets are basically a gold sex link breed.... I think my Sarah is one too, pretty girls!

They ARE pretty! I am really excited because I looked at the Dark Brahma's too and they are beautiful birds. And Barred Rocks were actually on my original list because of their looks.

Oh that's ok.... I would love some big ol' chickens stomping around out back! hehee
These girls are all different ages, maybe by just a few days. The BRs have wing and tail feathers, and good feathering on the breast and back as well. The DBs just have their foot, wing and tail feathers. The Comets are all fuzz except the tiniest wing feathers. Is it unusual for them to get along so well? The little comets sleep under the BRs.

Will the Barred Rocks keep their spot on their head? or will all of their feathers be the barred / speckled look? I ask because that is how I tell them apart LOL. The one with the smudge of white is not as friendly as the striped one. One of the DBs is more of a brown, the other more red.The comets are just exactly alike so I don't know who's who there!

Took them out again today - they still don't like being out in the heat. It figures I would have crazy chickens.
