I'd love to, but it is 99.99% too late. As of now, it is floating on it's side taking small gulps every few seconds. Not to mention its late and the closest petstore that we trust (Jacks Aquarium and Pets) is about 45 minutes away. If you go to FishChannel.com and look for Dropsy, then you'll understand. It's an internal disease that causes internal fluid build-up and affects the kidneys. It's more complicated than that but that's the short version.
As for the cats, sure, I'd love to if I could. Mine can't make too much of a fuss though. We took her to the vet in June because she had a swollen lip. The vet said it was allergies. She weighed 6.4 lbs. Now, we took her to the vet Friday because she had scabs and exposed skin all over her face and neck. It turns out she had another allergic reaction and she scratched it enough that it turned into infection. She weighs 4.7 lbs now. So you can see why she doesn't put up a fuss, too tired.
Have you figured out what she's getting into that is causing the allergic reaction? On itchy, scabby rashes, sometimes A&D (diaper rash) ointment helps keep them from scratching. We use it on the horses that get sun poisoning on white noses or get their noses in poison ivy.
Another thing that can cause scabby patches with hair loss and weght loss in cats is tape worm. Has she been checked? Regular worm medicine will not kill tapeworm. That's what my cats have and why I had to give them the pills yesterday. I deworm them regularly, but tapeworm is different. They get it when they eat/catch rodents that have fleas carrying the tapeworm larvae.
about the fish,,,really its just a goldfish..you might cry a little when you see a $100 marine fish floating, but I wouldnt stress over a goldfish..dont kick yourself about it..as for the rest,if school and activities are too much, maybe not do so many activities,a large part of growing up is knowing your priorities and limitations, figure out what is most important and concontrate on that,as for chores, they have to be done so set a schedule and do them everyday at the same time and soon they will become habit, you can create a habit in 21 days,
you might want to ask the vet if your cat is suffering from food allergies (quite common in cats). Try putting her on a lamb and rice diet for a few days and see if her skin & the rash start to clear up. I've had several cats with different food allergies; I've got 2 now that are allergic to fish.
ETA: BTW, not meaning to bash lorie, but "it's just a goldfish" isn't very helpful. Neither is "it was just a cat" ... "It was just a dog" ... "It was just a bird" ... "It was just a chicken" ... it doesn't matter what the animal life is, it can still be precious to it, and the loss is often quite keen. Sorry you're having such a miserable week, Brad.

The way my life runs is this, if it is not on my planner page, it is not happening, I don't care if you told me about it, you better watch me write it down or write it down for me. and God forbid if I loose the dern thing. I am so lost! I have to make lists of things to do at home when I get off work or I just sit and wonder what I am doing. Lists are my life!
