I just started with 5 chicks this spring, and boy! There are some interesting theories told me about hens needing roosters to lay eggs at all. I just sweetly explained its like your momma not needing your daddy around to have her period - and often do better without the company (heehee). What can I say? Teen age males . . .

You should take him on an egg production facility tour sometime! Look at all these roosters! They genetically engineered them to lay eggs... isn't technology great!
