Smashed thawed peas but you’ll need to sprinkle a small amount of chick grit over anything you give them other than their feed. Mine go crazy for scrambled egg I sprinkle chick grit over top when I give it to them. I use a fork to make it very small pieces I have 1 day olds up to 3 weeks.

When do ducklings start producing oil?

When can I start letting them have a ‘swim time’; they continuously try to swim in their drinking water.

Many let them swim as soon enough as a few days old. As long as it’s a short swim time and supervised it should be fine.. also make sure it’s warm water, and you dry them off before putting them back in the warm brooder.

Anybody know what breeds?
I’m guessing Saxony, Cayuga, and Khaki Campbell.

Top duckling looks like a possible Saxony. Sure hope so. They have become my favorite breed. Thought I’d just gotten 3 purebreds out of the last hatch - but 1 turned out to be a definite Pekin. Pekin drake is no longer part of the flock and next time hoping for a few more Saxony ducklings.
