Oh my....sorry for your loss. I'm not sure what that is, I'm sure someone does. I would take her to the vet or the send the deceased one in for evaluation. If this were cause by pecking they are probably overcrowded...How big is the coop? Number of nesting boxes? How many feeders?

I am wondering about over crowding also. In your siggy you have that you have 27 chickens. How big a coop do you have? Do they free range or do they have a run?
Thanks everyone.... I was able to add a pic my last post.... It looks so bad but does not seem to be leaving any blood on the floor of the carrier.... I am just hoping this is not something that will loose all my girls.... The coop is 6x14 with a 25x3 run we have 8 nesting boxes.... They have plenty of room.... Or at least we thought it was....

They have a run and they free range for about 6-8 hours a day.... They were not able to free range yesterday because we were having severe weather here.... But they were able to go out into their run....
I'm thinking that may be a bit tight. Some get away with less others have problems. You will need to watch for any other pecking and see if that is what is happening or if this is just a fluke. I have a bit more than 125 square feet in an open air pen for my 12 birds now and I think it is starting to get too tight to leave them in for long. Chickens can be rather mean. The three sex links I had I got rid of the second day as they were mean as all get out to my others. You need to clean her up the best you can and put some antibiotic ointment on her. She will need to be kept away from them till she heals.

Ok here is what I have done so far.... I put cornstarch on her bottom.... I didn't want to scare her or rile her up.... I put her water inside the carrier and she does not seem to be in too much distress.... Another thing her comb is brite red not pale at all.... I am just at a loss for words....
They can handle a lot more than you think sometimes. You just need to make sure she doesn't get infected in the wound. I would dab a bit of neosporin (without pain killer in it) on the wound and let her rest for the night. In the morning you can put her in an epsom salts warm water bath and then put some more neosporin on it. Keep her away from the others and she should heal. I think you are probably more upset than her! LOL Keep an eye on the picking. At only four months they are going to get a bit bigger.
