i did a "experiment", any comments?

okay, from what i learned and what my husband was doing we would go get a egg as soon as they seemed to lay. and was getting about 4 eggs that way. well yesterday i had to go into town and then visited my dad and was gone four hours or something. anyway, i got home and went straight outside, i had 8 eggs !

do think i should not go out there so often?

i figured that if i got them soon after they lay they would not just sit on them and also that they would be more use to us and nice. my grandmother had some chickens that were from h** when you would try to collect there eggs

I generally go out to collect eggs twice a day I go at lunch time and find most of the eggs then But I also check at dinner time when I give the girls there snack. With this heat I don't like the idea of the eggs staying to long in the coop. Micki

Hens are picky, Ide check them once or twice if you'de like, a day. But make sure you do it at the same time every day. they dont like to be disturbed.

okay thank you. i read that in a book we bought and my husband did it anyway so i stuck with it. but i will change to twice a day.
