I support 6 chicks policy, that way irresponsible impulsive 1 or 2 chick buyers are prevented from potential mistreating and abuse of chicks treated as a toys without any serious commitment to raise and keep them.
(Do I hear potential "looking for forever home" delusional c*ap?)
I can see how the 6 chick policy would deter many people who aren't truly committed to raising chicks, but there are still people with 4 kids who think 6 chicks sounds like a hamster project. We all know how that ends. It also prevents people who truly do love and care for their chickens, from stopping in the feed store and seeing THE breed they have been looking for, and picking up a few. Exactly what happened when I went to the feed store last time. I wanted to order some BOs in Feb,but they were sold out. I went into the Co-op and they had a whole new container of BO pullets, I jumped at the chance. If there was a 6 chick minimum...I wouldn't have been able to get any.
