Years ago, I ordered a pair of giant dewlap toulouse from metzer, had them for about 3 years loved them. Very friendly but noisy. I had my daughter (who is now 11) and when she started walking she was very afraid of them, they never attacked, but being geese followed her around the yard honking. I rehomed them. I have been wanting more geese for a few years, but put it off, couldn't decide on a breed. Was at the feed store monday and they had hatchery choice (looked like toulouse) but I don't want 'normal' geese. So looked at the holderreads website for the millionth time, contacted them and they answered right away that I should still be able to get 4 of the fancy assortment for this year. So placed the order and mailed the check yesterday! Now the wait! Not only when but what!!!!

) I realized I lived in driving distance from Holderread's and the last hatch was June 7. They weren't hatching their usual assortment at that point but had american blues and lavenders (buff color varieties) and a few odd sorts of duck. Geese are my passion, so I sent my check for a sexed pair of lavenders and your post took me right back there

A very happy time.

And you get surprised, to boot

Will they tell you what you get when you get it?

I met Dave and his wife and they stood in the driveway talking all about geese for a few minutes before they rushed back in (they were doing it all on their own that day). I still felt honored

Very good folks they are. You could see a pond and a flock of embdens and hear nothing but happy geese.

I look forward to your pictures!

I went crazy the other day and ordered a 2 pair of American blues from Holderreads. Due June 7th. Umm I guess I should tell someone we are about to have geese .... maybe I will wait till the day I pick them up then nobody can make me take them back heheheh.

Good luck with yours I hope you get some nice ones.

Don't know if they come with a list or not, if not it will be fun to figure out what they are. I haven't told anyone about mine either! I will sneak them in with the ducks and no one will notice!

Years ago I ordered the FancyDucklingassortment (10) and was tickled to find a handwritten list (I am sure it was Millie's hand) telling what was included taped to the inside cover of the box. Part of the fun was figuring out which duck was which (the dutch hookbills took me the longest. The price was great and I was lucky enough to get 3 ducklings which they weren't producing enough of yet to offer in their regular list. as Forrest Gump would say "life is like a box of ducklings you never know what you are going to get!" Keep in mind on the assortments they are left over birds, More eggs than expected hatched and you could get anything including the breeds listed as sold out. It is purely a matter of luck what will be in that box....

HAHAHA, That is what I thought, now 7 days later I have giant geese and midget ducks. Its a good thing my neighbors love me because I feel like I am getting away with murder.

LOL at Sdchef! Once I got over 20 goats, no one seemed to notice till I got around 40! Hopeing it is the same with the waterfowl!

Got an email last week that my ship date would be June 7, with the may 24 or June 14 as back ups. I got an email that they shipped today and should be here by Thursday! Hope they are here in the am, the wait will kill me. Wonder what they will be?????
