But he did mean it. The message was basically "I would love to buy from you, but if I don't hear from you within five days I will have to buy from someone else." That's not a threat; it's just a statement of fact. She said she would be in contact the next day and then failed to do so-- unless she had a very good reason, that makes her the rude one in this scenario to me.

Thank you for backing me up. Don't make a smart remark to me RedStarDaddy!!!!!

Max, RESPECT that comment. If I remember correctly, you aren't that old yourself and you should appreciate a lesson of life. You are no expert, so it is best not to be cocky. You still have a lot to learn.

With that said, you did threaten the lady, in a way. The kind of threat you are thinking of may be physically, but the way you did threaten was her through her business. Many things could have happened to not allow her to contact you, or like someone suggest, she may be on vacation somewhere for Labor Day weekend. Even if she is ignoring you or refusing to respond, she doesn't HAVE to sell them to you. Infact, should could have sold them already and is purposely avoiding you to avoid conflict. There are many possibilities.

I myself have been stood up before. Back when I had my extra Silkie roosters, I had a friend of our give my number to a lady who had Silkies. She was a breeder, and like most breeders, very serious. I described the birds to her and we set up a date for her to come look at them. Needless to say, she didn't show. No phone call, no nothing. I let it go and eventually found homes for them.

Lesson here? Forgive, forget, and move on. There are plenty for chances elsewhere.

Sorry. But RedStarDaddy has no right to disrespect me though. Sorry if this offends you Year of the Rooster. I should've never opened this topic. My apologies to everyone. I feel like some of you guys hate me now.

I will second this. If she's interested in selling to you then you'll hear from her. If you hear nothing then just move on.

If he really wants the hen, I don't think it's out of line to say "Hey, I'm still around and still would be interested in buying from you if you're up for it. But if I don't hear back from you in five days, I'll have to assume you're not interested and buy from someone else." That's giving her the benefit of the doubt, which is tactful. But if she still doesn't get in touch, then drop it.

I'm siding with M to the Max. She listed on C.L., said she would call and if she is running it as a business it woudl only take a moment to leave a message for him saying sorry forgot I'm going out of town or something came up I'll contact you soon. His email was polite and said if I don't hear from you I will look some where else. Not, call or I'm going some where else, which is a threat. Give the kid a break and pat on the back for being a BYC member. I was more offended by the attack on M to the Max than his post.

I have to second that. If I tell someone I am going to do something I try my hardest to do it, or let them know why I can't. It's called being considerate!!!

That is okay, Max. You had every right to vent.

RedStarDaddy on the other hand was only trying to give advice with no disrespect intended. The business world can be a nasty one and, sometimes, it is best to head anothers' warning. Live and learn. You have plenty of time.

Maxx, you need to think of this another way... I wouldnt even buy anything from this person..she said she'd get back to you..she didnt..
I would move on and look elsewhere. I wouldnt even give her my money.

I would bet you that someone wanted to buy more than on hen and she sold the one you wanted with the rest of them. That how craigslist goes, so you should find one somwhere else
