I do not want or like chickens

I have not even gotten my babies but my DH already says I am addicted. My two kids said they do not want chickens.......but were naming them already

I have a feeling I will slowly get more and more. I already have people telling me to call them when they start laying so they can buy eggs! I do not even have trhe chickens yet!

I think it will take longer for DH to come around though. We shall see!

"I was SAVED, too..." I saw a sign on a bulletin board that said "Chickens, call ...." I waited 10 days, thinking someone would have taken them by then...Nope, no one had, so I drove by - JUST TO LOOK, and drove off with 10 pullets ready for their first molt last November...so happy and excited, I had to share! I gave two to a friend, I really, really, meant to give her half of the 10...really! I just couldn't do it...got stingy...yep, I was stingy! GOSH! It is now a lifelong enjoyment, I plan to have silkies and banties when I'm really old, if I can manage to wait that long...I'll be 53 this summer and figure I've got another 50 more years to dedicate to this addiction:p

I started wanting chickens in like March and by the second week in April I just had to answer a ad on craigs list that advertised 200 chickens of 4 different varieties, all brown egg layers.....I went, picked out 15...planned to get bo's...but my husband (who also told me this was my deal....i had to take care of them...you know the normal things the DH says when they are in chicken denial:gig) he just HAD to have two barred rocks because they were different looking...so we drove away with our 15 chickens which we think are all roosters....and now I am waiting to pick up 7 more from a local hatchery this next thursday and I CAN'T wait......

By the way.....the husband now takes care of the chickens as much as I do and he does it totally voluntarily.....

..... he even brought them treats the other day....

I absolutely adore my chickens! They all have different personalities. I am a chicken addict. I still have to convince some ppl @ my homeschool group that chickens are awesome though. I'm a duck addict too. STOP ME!

Wow! I'm not only an addict, I'm a dealer. I got chickens for my neighbor. Then I gave her some babies. Last night I helped her set up the bator at her house!! The addiction spreads!

I started with 5 chickens, now have 9, DH said that was plenty. Found 20 for free on Craigslist, told him about it. Later he said to go get them, but they were gone!

But...........I found 2 free fainting goats on CL, and am watching closely for those easter chickens!

ChicknThief, 'abuse problems with poultry'? I do NOT abuse my poultry!

From what I understand an addict can only be helped if they WANT help and are ready to admit that they have a problem. I will admit that I am an addict, but I don't think it's a problem. After all, I am only hurting myself, right? And as far as poultry and driving goes, I find that I drive better after I've had a few... Nothing like looking in your rear view mirror and seeing that the 4 week old pullets that you just bought managed to get out of their box and are now running back and forth across the rear deck of your car!

And be honest, do any of you (besides me) worry about getting into an accident because if you did, who would take care of your critters?

I love chickens, and my household was not fond of the first box from Ideal!

However, now everyone loves the ducks and chickens and we're excited about the new additions hopefully on the way!
