Hello all. I’ve been hand feeding and giving water to my 2 month old cream leg bar pullet for 5 days. I found her sluggish standing still in her coop and brought her inside to a dog crate. As soon as I brought her inside she couldn’t walk or stand up.

I’ve been giving her vitamins and electrolytes for 4 days and nutritional yeast for 2. I’ve doing hours of research but am having trouble with so much contradicting information and hoping someone here can help.

I got her and took care of her since she was a chick so we’ve bonded.
Why is it always your favorite chickens that get sick?

She has been only laying on her side, I stand her up under my armpit when I feed her. She likes to eat.

Her poop was green and runny at first but now looks normal. She doesn’t seem to be in pain, she only squawks when I clean her bottom.

I called the feed store where I got her and she was vaccinated for Mareks.

Anyone know what is it so I can take care of her better? She can move her legs and wings but can’t sit, stand or walk. I don’t see any problems with respiratory breathing but maybe I don’t know what I’m looking for. She can straighten out her toes but prefers one curled.

How long should I keep feeding her? Aka how long do I do this until it’s best to give up?

Thank you for any help

Kelly

that sounds like something that happened to my lemon cuckoo niederrheiner pullet she was probably around 6 months and she couldn't stand up and she could only lay on her side she could still move both her legs and her wings and she sometimes even propped herself up on 1 leg and we kept her in a cage for maybe 2 weeks and then my dad said I couldn't have her in there anymore so we had to put her down 😢 but I think her leg might have been sprained or something like that

Get her Riboflavin 400mg capsules. Looks like Curly Toe Paralysis.

Riboflavin Deficiency also effects the lower leg(Drumstick, & Shanks).

Marek's Vaccine doesn't prevent them from getting it, it only slows the progression of the illness if they contract it.

Very informative video, Mys! Well done. Please consider presenting this in an article. Would make it easier for folks to find. If I'm not misaken, there may be an ongoing articles contest you could submit it to.
