I was wasting time on ebay earlier and ended up in the gift card section. There were dozens of listings where the bids were higher than the value of the gift cards

Why in the world would someone buy a gift card for more than its face value? Especially now that you can buy gift cards in walmart! Maybe I should start flipping gift cards......

I'm not sure, but I know just the other night I saw an infomercial type ad that said they will buy your unwanted gift cards. Their pitch is "got a gift card but you don't shop at that store? We'll buy it from you, for cash!". I have no clue why they buy them or if they buy them at face value or what. I wasn't interested, so I didn't look into it, but maybe it has something to do with it. No clue.
