I went through the same thing. Thought I had a bunch of duds, but at 5-6 months they suddenly got things going . Nutrition matters .

Squatting is kinda hard for me to explain but ill try, this is going from what i see anyone else feel free to chime in. Usually when i reach down to pet or pick up one of the hens she will almost lay down on the ground like she is getting ready to jump and she has her shoulders away from her body but her wings are not fully out. I hope this was ok

Chickens squat to get ready for the rooster to do his thing. They will do it for whoever they feel submissive to, so if they are handled and played with a lot, this will be you, as well as any rooster. Its very cute and makes for very easy catching.
