I have a about 4 month old chicken. She was recently injured when she left the cage yesterday. We took care of her injuries and she seemed fine for about 3 hours until she went to sleep for the night. This morning she was sleeping and about a hour ago she woke up. I picked her up and placed her on a chair, and she seemed to be sort of standing up sleeping? Its quite worrying me for she is a bit fat for her age. She does have phlegm in her mouth and I hear her Whesing sort of? Please help, i want to save my little one.

I would like to know what is happening to her, and if so could you recommend some home remedies?

Can you gently clear some of the phlegm out with a Q-tip, especially in the choanal slit in the roof of her mouth? What color is the phlegm? I might treat with acidified copper sulfate in her drinking water (1/4 tsp per gallon of drinking water) for starters. It seems lately I keep recommending oxine in a vaporizer or nebulizer, though I have not tried it myself.

Honestly, if this just came on with the animal attack, I’d be concerned she might have a punctured lung, as they are on the back, possible where the wounds are. That might require a different course of action.

The phlegm is clear, i gave her some water and she stood more alert, the cuts were not so deep and she didn't bleed much but if it was a punctured lung, what symptoms would she show?
