My duckling is not eating his grain and he will drink fine. But his voice sounds scratchy when he chirps. What do I do?:(

Boil up an egg then let cool remove shell and mash with a fork
and serve to the little duckling if he likes give him another in a
couple of hours ,,,,,,,, do this for a couple of days and see if
you notice a difference

How old is he? Has he just started behaving like this.? Maybe the feed is too dry for him. If you go to "Other Backyard poultry" thread you will find posts from duck people. It would be good to get their advice.

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan

Do you mean his duck feed, or are you feeding him whole grains? I would also recommend the ducks section of the Forum, lots of knowledgeable folks there.

Good morning Aflack here I am a 3 1/2 yr old duck and momma
Ducklings need more like a turkey grow with a 20% or better
protein to grow and our pet human sometimes put's the crumble
in the blender to make it a little smaller ....
For a duckling to eat it needs its water to choke down the feed
so both the feed and water need to be close together and it will
seem that half the feed is being wasted in the water but this is
normal and part of being a dock ..........
Try to entice the duckling to eat by giving him/her some boiled
egg as this is just to see if there is a real problem as your duckling
should act like this is candy ...........
