Fix'd.

IMHO, I hated the eggshell seperator, and flinging them. Otherwise, I don't see any problem.

I think ive seen these before, i think i actually saw it on tv though cause i remember thinking something like "oh chicks!" cause it was on how its made on discovery channel and i had wondered how hatcheries worked plus the chicks were cute. and yes they are treated kind of poorly for living animals but its not that bad, theyre just going for a ride on a conveyer belt and though a steel tube thing, its not like theyre spikes or something to hurt them or anything so they dont get hurt or anything, just a little shaken up. its like a roller coaster ride for chickens and the tube things are like slides, just think of it as a fun amusement park ride for chickens... yes i love animals and agree they treat them a little rough but they have to, theye just doing their job and they have to do it quickly, its all about time and profit/money, if they treated them gently and with care every time they would lose valuable time and money because they are mass chick producers and chicks are in high demand so in order to make money they have to get as many chicks as possible sorted through the system and ready to go every hour so they cant afford to treat them gently, even if they want to, its just not reasonable in a mass chick producing place like a hatchery and its really not that bad, just think of it as a fun amusement park ride for chickens...

Not really that terrible, it probably hurts us more to watch, then the chicks, seeing as how fluffy and vibrant they are at the end of the line....

Want bad? Have someone run you through the process of the how they process chickens at the plants, before they end up at your local grocery store... I've seen that first hand, and it aint purty.

yeah, i think i might have seen a video (s) on that on the net and maybe youtube or something, i think it was chickens, may have been turkeys too though, they do horid stuff to them, basically torture, while theyre still alive too plus some of them sometimes miss the thing that kills them too and have to go through the other stuff that they would have gone through dead, still alive too, its awful, factory farms are bad too... not to rant or make anyone not want to buy meat or gross anyone out or anything but it really is awful the way they treat factory/factory farm animals, its a real problem... i mean you cant just treat animals like that and think its ok!

By the way have you seen how some of the chickens and hens treat them.
My hen squashed her new born chick to death. If she had been human they would have removed all her chicks and thrown her in jail with that other crazy hen that attacked and tried to kill her injured sister just because she had a bloody spot. That would have gotten a human being the "chair".
Luckily they are not human and my chick killing hen was actually a very good mother to all her chicks.

Sorry for being over reactive sheesh....I just think it's terrible that they put the males in the grinder and how they toss them around like that

Before this thread gets locked, I would just like to say that if I were a chick on that carousel, I'd wanna be on the boy's side. It looks more fun

Seriously people, these are farm animals- not pets. That's the industry and I am sorry that the line gets blurred. Just close your eyes each night and take comfort that YOUR animals won't be treated that way... And leave that business to, well, the business.

they are a little rough with them, but you're right, they're farm animals thats life/the industry, at least in regards to these chicks, so well said.

What an awesome video. I had no idea it was quite so automated as that.

I'm guessing if the process harmed too many chicks then they'd change it quickly before they lost money.

I take it the chick sexing by feather only works for specific breeds ?
