There are lots of threads on eating silkies/black bone/black skin chickens. They taste like chicken and white vs dark meat has nothing to do with the pigmentation.

Yes the taste is pretty much the same as a regular chicken, but I eat with my eyes first and these eye's say..

. WTS silkie meat is a special treat in the asian community, they will stampede each other to get to those black meat carcasses, and as with almost all asian food it is said to bring good fortune...........

I had NO idea that Silkies had black skin...or that they were in high demand in Asian countries! I just think they're too cute and sweet looking to be able to cull any of them.

So when you're eating silkie, is the breast still considered white meat and the legs still considered dark meat?

Silkies most prised for their medicinal qualities aren't that big, they are like the silkies in the US in size. If it's not "stereotypical" silkies color and size, their quality is often questioned as pure silkie or a mix.

REALLY makes you wonder if the meat UNDER that dark skin is actually darker than "normal" chicken?
