I don't want my dog anymore . . .

I would crate the dog if it were me

It isn't hair that people are allergic to...it's the dander, poodles are supposed to have less but they still have it... my daughter can't even get licked by our dogs or she gets a rash. Our dogs aren't allowed to where the bedrooms are...with my daughter's allergy it is the only way to keep them. My old girl will be sleeping in my room but I am on a different floor than the kids. The boys want to bring our big australian shepherd to their room but I am still mulling that over since he will probably end up on a top bunk

Being me well I have 5 bed buddies aka labs. I wouldn't trade them for anything personally but some think I am nuts. I have to say tho you have to do what you have to do just make sure if you give him a new home its a good one not where someone else will reject him too....don't want a dog with a complex. Oh and the chocolate got me the best I use to have a miniture poodle when I was a kid and omg she loved chocolate. If it was possible she got into it. I did train my labs if they want chocolate to ask and yes I know its not good for them. But if given chocolate or orange slices they will take the orange slices:lau and do about anything for them.

Pretty sure the OP's tongue is firmly in cheek!

As the former owner of a 70lb. white Standard, I can attest to the fact that they are the ultimate smartest dumb dog ever!

Yeah, it's probably a good idea to read the thread, especially when it is short, before you post your criticism. Criticizing the OP (me) and my daughter aren't bound to go over well . . .

Now, if you'd care to join in on some poodle bashing to make light of another doggy disappointment, please do.

I don't actually believe in re-homing dogs. There needs to be exceptional circumstances. I realize it does happen, but if an owner gets a dog with the idea that they can re-home it when it becomes inconvenient, I really take issue with that.

Now, telling the dog every time he takes a mis-step that he will be re-homed, or eaten, or woven into a rug while his hair is still attached to his pink or black skin . . . I have no problem with such verbal abuse.

I read the post and figured that this is an owner who loves this dog just not some of the behaviors which I can understand I have a beagle mix that I would sell some days for a nickle. I love this dog but he makes me go

My son's husky is another one that makes me go

these dogs are so smart that they are dumb sometimes. If I thought that bendryl would work on my beagle mix during a storm I would be shoving it down his throat in a heartbeat then maybe I could sleep without my bed shaking so hard my teeth chatter. I did have a little poodle when I was a kid it loved me but hated my birth dad guess she had good taste. But boy could she find the trouble.

We've had this guy for almost 18 months. This is only recently a problem -- him getting on my bed when backs are turned. My daughter goes away to school during the week and returns on weekends and the dog doesn't like it. (Neither do I.)

My bed is in the living room -- don't anyone ask why. The living room cannot be closed off. Typically the dog is never in the room where I sleep except lately when my daughter is away. When it's just he and I . . . I dunno what he is thinking. He gets all friendly and cozy with me despite all the verbal abuse I can dish out. He seems to enjoy it even.

Regarding your daughter and being licked, same reaction with me. My mother's dog brushed against my arm once and my arm broke out in hives. I've been trying to convince my doctor to refer me for allergy shots for dogs and cats, but she is opposed because I am "allergic to everything" -- which is true so far as everything I've ever been tested for. So for all are positive. Nevertheless, if I am constantly exposed to dogs and cats and a few other things, I would rather have allergy shots for those "constant" allergen exposures. I haven't given up trying to convince my doctor. Next appointment I will win my argument!!

His former owners crated him most of the day and when company was over -- he spent about 18 hours a day crated. There are other solutions besides crating him, especially when I'm home most of the time.

Meanwhile, I'm going to continue complaining about him . . .

1. He doesn't paint his own toe nails.

2. He doesn't pluck his own ears.

3. He is always excited when we bring groceries in the house, but he never offers to help carry them.

I was gonna suggest crating as well but not now. He'd probably flip out if you brought in a crate. So how did he get to the llama poop. He shouldn't be able to get on their property. I almost got a standard many years ago. It was a well bred one too that the owner was giving away since she only had a couple pups and didn't want to hassle with selling them. We just didn't have the property for a large dog at the time.
