A group of animal activists invaded an egg farm not far from me a few months ago. Got some sensational film footage of abuse and terrible conditions. Generated lots of publicity. There were articles in the papers and the network news vans all came down to cover the story. Trouble was, it turned out the activists staged most of it. Last I heard, the egg farm had filed a defamation suit against the activists. People don't realize that the goal of these animal activist groups is not so much making life better for animals, but raising money for their organization. The more lurid the film footage, the more money people contibute to save the animals. Not realizing of course that almost all of the money goes to filling the coffers of the organization, and very little, if any of it, goes for actually benefitting animals.
