I know I have to dust them again in 2 days, and then again (@5-7 day intervals) but in the meantime I want to bathe them (at least their behinds) and use coconut oil to remove nits. Will I be ruining the effects of the permethrin dust by bathing ?

You don’t dust them in 2 days, but in 10 days for lice. lice hatch every 10 days, and you must dust them the second time after 10 days. Two treatments is the minimum, and check them again after 10 more days to see if they need a third treatment. I’m not sure where you got 2 days. I would not bathe them for a good while until you know the lice are under control. Mites should be treated after 7 days, since they lay eggs every 5-7 days. Lice is every 10 days. Be sure to remove all of the bedding in your coop and nests, far away, and treat the roosts, nests, and empty coop with permethrin spray. Then add more new bedding.
