That is a cool video

I did take a course on food animal production, etc etc and saw videos and read about the ppl they pay to raise chickens for meat/egg production, how they process, etc etc and the commercial processes are very um . . . yeah, but I suspect it will stay that way since it seems to be more cost effective for them, sad but true

I still buy my meat from the grocery store because I have not yet gotten to the point where I think I could eat something I raised, BUT I am hoping after a while I will get over that and be able to raise my birds for dual purposes

They should be moved to the hatcher on day 18 and 80% humidity is too high.

i wish some one would have told me that sooner! i asked and asked, no answer. that explains why so few of my silver phoenix eggs didn't hatch

Yeah...something bad happened.

my little cousin (shes 5) sneeked into the room with the bators and babies...

My grandmother caught her staring into the bator while twisting the temp knob around and around...I had a couple more babies half hatch the die, 1 had a heat blister on it. I just found this out yesterday, It happened like 4 days ago.

I candled again immediately and it looks like i probably have a lot of cooked eggs..the ducks are still moving...im just hoping they hatch and are healthy..

Grammy said she said she took the lid off immediately after she got punished and adjusted the heat, but she doesn't know how long it was hot for.

I am going through again today to check progress and such, cleaning out all the bad ones too. I will let everyone know about the ducklings. I took a video a few days ago of one moving around in the egg..

The 'baby room' got a lock put on it yesterday.

It's kinda hard to see but look close..

ETA: THIS S BY FAR THE WORST HATCH I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!! I JUST WANNA PULL MY HAIR OUT LATELY...

OH, goodness...I'm SO sorry to hear the bad news! Glad you got a lock on that door now!

As far as marking chicks - I wanted to mention that me and my hatching partner here on BYC simply split our bators with a thin piece of wood, into as many sections as we need. Then, the chicks can hatch, but they cannot jump over the divider so you know which is from which section. Then, we tag with zip ties. We've done it this way all along, with no issues. Just posting this as a suggestion.

You can see the divider in this picture:

Lách Cnoc Farm do not feel alone. My temp and humidity have been horrible this round and this may turn out to be my worst hatch. I really believe the cause is due to Missouri temps and the placement of my incubator (in the warm bathroom near a window). Right now I just do not have another place to put. Then the outdoor temp gets hotter or colder, in return the bathroom gets warmer or colder, etc. But my fingers are crossed that my shipped eggs (with the HUGE air sacs) hatch on the 15th.

I never got a chance to re-check everything last night, so i will let everyone know tonight. The duck eggs should be due around the weekend sometime...i think...

they were freebies and i think the hen may have been sitting on them a bit before i got them, but at least there's still movement!
