I feel like I'm forgetting something

So... if I have a straight run of 100 chicks and they're in, for argument's sake, a 4x8 brooder, they'll have plenty of room. Then after they're old enough to go outdoors, I've got about 4 dozen each boys and girls, I put my four dozen ladies in pens with 10 or 12 boys, leaving about 36 males, which would be okay in a 4x8 brooder. Which is fine, all except for not having much of a clue how to build a brooder for birds that can actuallly fly, other than new babies, which mostly hop around. Are there plans for a brooder or grow out pen for quail?

or if they fight i will just cut open the middle section to the pen eat the rabbit and keep them in the whole pen ( 4 x 7 )

Maybe it's me, since I'm tired and it's been a long day... but how does 4x7 divided by two come to 2x4.5?

No. Still not right. 4x7 divided by *four* gives you 2x3.5

If you have a rectangle that is 4x7, it looks like this (with each X being half a foot):

XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

You can divide it in one direction, which gives you 2x7:

XXXXXXXXXXXXXX
XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Or you can divide it the other way, which gives you 4X3.5:

XXXXXXX
XXXXXXX
XXXXXXX
XXXXXXX

Either way, half of 4x7 is 14 square feet, or PLENTY for that many birds.

On the other hand, it's very likely that the pen isn't that large. Four by seven for one rabbit? That's only slightly smaller than my boys' bedroom!

Definitely. My pen is about 2 1/2 x almost 8 and I have about 25 birds in there. They are not even close to crowded and I could probably add another 10 or so without anyone noticing
