I feel really sorry for this duck. How do I know it's starving??

I just watched her on youtube and read reviews...not great. He seems to be fine there, and in the complex you are in, i doubt u r the only one sneak feeding him. He also has what appears to b excellent access to good foraging. Id at tjis point let him be. As long as the HOA isnt out for his life, i wouldnt relocate to the sanctuary. Ih, and lol he looks far from starving...little chunky cutie

He's gorgeous. I'd take him in a minute and I'd be crazy to since I have a very dominant Muscovy drake now.

That is my worry that someone kills him. [Pest control] that is sad. They don't endanger the native ducks if they mate and have ducklings those ducklings are sterile so those ducklings can't produce.
It's the same for Canada geese their habitats are being bulldozed over and condos and such are going up then the geese have no where to migrate too. I have a friend who lives in Winter Haven Fl she said just about all habitat for the Endangered crane is gone and they are walking around in neighborhoods and on roads.

Any one who has Muscovies know they are awesome ducks make great pets too.
But again is there any other place that will take him in? I think it's strange there are no other Muscovies there.

Thanks for all the replies I feel much better now. The duck does seem a LOT more hungry ever since HOA sent out that notice of being fined $100/day if caught feeding ducks though. I was worried because I thought maybe this duck has indeed become dependent on people for food??? That was my biggest concern along with being killed. I also thought it was VERY strange he's always by himself. There are no other ducks of any kind around here...

If I found someone local who keeps Mascovy as pets don't you think he'd be happier if taken there? I've been trying to research and form what I understand they are flock animals and are miserable alone?

Yes I think he would be happier with a flock. Have you been on the Florida thread at "where am I where are you" might just find someone who is a member here interested.

Cool! Thanks for letting me know I didn't realize there as a section like that... I have to run to the grocery store but I'll post in that section when I get back home :D
I also feel like he looks so lonely, he just wonders around all by himself... I know they are flock animals and it seems he would indeed have a happier life with at least one more duck around him. From what I read they have such an incredibly short lifespan... he's such a sweet duck and deserves a happy life.

I haven't seen the duck for several days which isn't the norm. I hope he's OK :(

I normally see him every single day. Upon doing further research I now see Duck Haven would not keep the duck of course as she only has room for injured ducks who are unable to survive in the wild... but she has safe places to re-home Muscovy ducks. In retrospect I'm thinking I should have taken him to Duck Haven afterall.
