I feel really sorry for this duck. How do I know it's starving??

Lol theres me laughing on the floor….

LOL too funny ;)

I will make a video showing the pond and this duck tomorrow and will report back what the sanctuary says...

Thanks for all the advice so far much appreciate it! :) Isn't it annoying in life when you are not sure what the correct answer is. I wish I knew for CERTAIN whether this duck needs help or not. If I knew he definitely needs help I would snatch him right up... but what if he doesn't need help.

One thing im certain of, is he is lonely...needs ducky friends so maybe a sanctuary is the answer...or u (somebody;)) could always piss the HOA off and buy another duck:celebrate

Yes, this duck has always been by himself since I moved here... then out of nowhere 7 ducks showed up and from what I recall he was distancing himself from them. I don't remember if he was always distant from them or not though...

I do remember that one of those 7 ducks was HUGE and was definitely the boss because he would get aggressive and steal all the food and chase other ducks away in order to get at it first.
This is probably why he was distancing himself from them. He likely was't allowed to.

He doesn't. He's using you. Really. He knows a good deal when he sees one.

I wonder if it is Muscovy? I know in FL they consider muscovy ducks a nuisance and maybe that is why they don't want people feeding them?
Honestly though, if people are feeding bread - it is not good for them anyway. How many people in a condo would have appropiate duck feed on hand?
This is what happens when people interfere with nature.
I am a duck owner (muscovy actually) and chickens. But, my ducks (and chickens) are not "wild". People tend to think that wild animals cannot fend for themselves so try to care for them which in turn makes animals a nuisance or even a danger (think of all the bear problems we have in natural parks these days).
I do not live in an HOA and never would, but I am thinking from the other side of how animals become a "nuisance".

It is 100% a Muscovy :)

I spoke to Buschs Wildlife and they told me they euthanize Muscovy ducks but the lady I spoke to was helpful and gave me lots of info. I spoke to her for several minutes and she gave me phone number to Duck Haven and South Florida Wildlife Center which do NOT kill them. I spoke to the lady who runs the non profit Duck haven sanctuary and she has about 50 Muscovy ducks right now and they are living a very nice life! They are well fed and have access to a few ponds. It is strictly a Muscovy duck sanctuary (she turned her house's backyard into the sanctuary and has been doing this for 41 years... google (Duck Haven in Margate, FL) and you'll see :)
... so if anyone knows Muscovy ducks it's this lady haha. She advised me it would be in this duck's best interest for me to capture it and bring it over. To be honest I do not trust HOA. HOAs should be abolished and the horrors they have caused so many people... I've seen some pretty shocking stuff. Life is way too SHORT for such headaches!

Does anyone know where I can get a big catch net? I was about to go to Walmart to see if they have any fish nets that might work? My neighbor told me it's illegal to relocate Muscovy duck but I now see that only applies to releasing them elsewhere into the wild... but not illegal if they are being transferred to captive sanctuary.

It's also very much a possibility the other ducks were killed by trappers... I don't trust gated communities being controlled by HOA. I also read in that newspaper clip on Duck Haven website saying cruel people are running over these ducks on purpose with their cars... HORRIBLE!!!!

I will upload video later today or tomorrow morning of this duck :)
