I feel really sorry for this duck. How do I know it's starving??

Maybe like someone here said he's just a moocher? ... but I'm still confused why he didn't leave with those 7 ducks... or I should say 6 ducks because one of them was severely injured and I took it to the sanctuary.
Was he there before they came? Could be he didn't leave with them because they weren't his flock. I don't know about ducks, but chickens aren't always accepting of a newcomer or loner. And a new bird to the flock often chooses to be by herself.

Maybe becuase there was already a male in that flock? I think the have a male to female ratio similar to chickens of three werent enough females another male wouldn't let him join

Yes, this duck has always been by himself since I moved here... then out of nowhere 7 ducks showed up and from what I recall he was distancing himself from them. I don't remember if he was always distant from them or not though...

I do remember that one of those 7 ducks was HUGE and was definitely the boss because he would get aggressive and steal all the food and chase other ducks away in order to get at it first.
